Our Background

Act 2 is a lively and inclusive community theatre group for young people aged 3 to 20! We started small with just seven students, but now we’re a thriving hub for over 200 aspiring performers in East London. We offer classes five nights a week. Our goal is to inspire creativity through acting, movement, improvisation, and drama games, all tailored to each age group. Come join us and let your creativity shine in a safe and supportive environment. We’ve got an amazing network of students and alumni who’ll be there to cheer you on!

Founder of ACT2

Amanda Goodwin

Amanda brings over 20 years of experience in the industry, having launched our theatre school film agency, AMG Associates and our registered charity Act 2 Aid dedicated to the arts, . Now, as a consultant agent in the TV and film industry, she has handed over the teaching baton but remains deeply connected to her roots. You can expect to see her at rehearsals, always on the lookout for the next talented star waiting in the wings. Her passion for nurturing talent continues to shine through in everything she does.

Artistic Director

Adam Goodwin

Adam has been teaching drama to kids for over 25 years and heads most of the classes as well as directing our main shows. In a previous version of himself he was a professional actor, appearing in well loved TV shows and Theatre productions. Adam is also a Bafta and Royal Television Society Award winning writer having co-written TV shows for BBC, CBBC, ITV, Channel 4, Nickelodeon and NBC/Sprout. If that wasn’t enough he has also co-authored many best-selling humour books.

Gemma Saunders

Gemma is an actor and voiceover actor. She has worked in theatre, TV and radio since 1999. She recently directed Romeo and Juliet as part of the Coram Shakespeare Festival for Selwyn Primary and she is really looking forward to working with Act2…especially excited about dusting off her sequin hot pants and tap shoes for Bugsy!

Daisy Morris

Daisy has been a cherished member of our team since she joined as a student at just 7 years old. We are thrilled to see her step into the roles of trainee teacher and dance captain, bringing her energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to our community. When she's not at ACT2, you can find her rehearsing for lead roles in college shows or diligently studying for university. Daisy also shares her passion for performance by teaching at all our holiday clubs, inspiring the next generation of performers.

Esme Goodwin

Meet Esme, a talented individual who has been part of our family business since childhood, starting her professional acting career at just 5 years old. We are thrilled to welcome her back to lead our new ACT2 Minis class! A 2024 graduate with a degree in Media Production, Esme also serves as an ACT2 Aid ambassador, having worked with our charity in Italy, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia. The children absolutely adore her warmth, enthusiasm, and the joy she brings to teaching!

Dean Gordon

Introducing "Dean Machine", a dedicated student and lead assistant at ACT2. Dean consistently brings positivity to our classes and may graciously share his delightful 'Nutella' song with you. We pride in having him as an integral member of the ACT2 community.

Assistants

At our classes , we believe in providing the best support for our students. That's why, alongside our core team, we have dedicated assistants in every class to help the children thrive and keep our teachers focused. Our assistants include performing arts graduates, talented Academy Seniors, and special guests from the industry, ensuring a rich and nurturing environment for all. Together we create a dynamic and supportive learning experience that fosters creativity and growth

Act Aid Ambassadors

We are thrilled to have our ACT2 Aid Volunteers joining us in our classes and holiday clubs whenever possible! Comprising both past and present Academy students, our ambassadors bring invaluable energy and support to our programs. Their dedication and teaching enhance the experience for everyone involved. Ivy The Cockapoo

Ivy, our lovable Cockapoo, who is always ready to brighten our days! Whether she’s sitting in on classes or stealing cuddles, Ivy brings joy wherever she goes. Although her big acting debut for a popular dog brand didn’t go as planned due to a 'little mishap', the kids adore her playful spirit. You can often find Ivy darting around our venues, spreading fun and laughter!
